What Type of Bed Should I Buy for My Kids?

Filed under: Bloggers, Help + Advice — @ 12:04 am

If you want to find a suitable bed for your kids then your first port of call should be a cabin bed. There are many different kinds of cabin bed, some come with built in drawers, desks, closets some even come with a built in guest bed. So it is very important you know before hand what needs your bed must satisfy

There are two primary types of cabin bed, firstly there are high sleeper cabin beds. Simply put a high sleeper bed is risen off the ground to maximise your floor space. A high sleeper cabin bed provides much more space than a mid sleeper bed, however since they are so high from the ground it may not be wise for younger nippers.

The other main type of cabin bed is the mid sleeper cabin bed. The mid sleeper cabin bed is especially useful for younger children, this is because it is not as high from the ground. A mid sleeper bed will also have tons of built in storage space, which is ideal for storing all the tiddlers junk in

Therefore, if you are looking for a new bed for your nippers buying a cabin bed should be your first choice. Not just because they are low-priced but they are also practical and will last for a lifetime.

Why I Care About VoIP

Filed under: Telecommunication Portal — @ 10:46 pm

Why Should You Care About VoIP?

You might have seen the Vonage and other service providers offer ultra-cheap or cheaper voice calling service via your broadband internet connection. Voice over IP service providers use the internet to carry voice signals from their networks to your home phone. Because VoIP telecommunication is not regulated the way traditional phone line telecommunication is, VoIP providers can offer drastically lower calling rates.

Skeptics talk about the quality of VoIP not being the same as regular land lines. They contend that you may to put up with the occasional hiccup in your voice service, caused by the one thing legacy telephone technology has built-in that VoIP does not: guaranteed quality. This might have been true a couple of years ago, but as mentioned before, things are changing and the movement is afoot to adapt quality-of-service techniques to VoIP services so that you calls are just as good as land line calls. As a former Marine and communcations officer, I can wholeheartedly vouch for this technology. If we can make it work out in the middle of a field, it can certainly work in the home.

If someone offered me a way to make a lot of money with this technology I would want to know about it. Why? Because the telecommunication industry is a billion dollar a year industry and the shift that is occurring is in its infancy. If one were to position his or herself in the path of change, one could potentially get very rich introducing this shift to people and saving them hundreds of dollars every year.

You owe it to yourself to check out the benefits this technology has to offer and implement the changes in either your home, business, or both. It’s certainly worth a look if you are paying too much for your phone services.

Ashwagandha and Health Solutions with Ashwagandha

Also known as Winter Cherry and Indian Ginseng, Ashwagandha is one of the most valuable herbs in the Ayurvedic medical system, dating back more than 3,000 years. Its Sanskrit name Ashwagandha literally means ‘that which has the smell of a horse’, so named because it is said to give the strength and vitality of a horse. Ashwagandha is specific for a wide range of conditions including arthritic inflammation, anxiety, insomnia, respiratory disorders, nervous disorders, gynecological disorders, male infertility and impotence.

It is a herb that enhances resistance to stress, increases stamina and promotes general well-being. Many Western herbalists refer to this herb as “Ayurvedic ginseng” because of its reputation for increasing energy, strength, and stamina, and for its ability to relieve stress. Modern research has found several types of alkaloids in it of which somniferin and withaniol are responsible for its multiple actions. The roots of the plant have been reported to have Alkaloids, Withanolides and many Glycosides.

According to the Ayurvedic system, Ashwagandha is the best herb for balancing Vata in the body. Vata governs all movement in the body, including the movement of nerve impulses throughout the nervous system. When the root is taken as a milk decoction and sweetened with honey or raw sugar, it is used to inhibit ageing and build up strength by catalysing the anabolic processes in the body.

Ashwagandha is also a proven immune-modulator, antioxidant and hormone precursor which tends to regulate important physiological functions. Research has shown that it can protect the activity of immune cells that are exposed to chemicals that would otherwise inhibit their normal function.

The antitumor activity of Withania somnifera is known and that it also enhances the effects of radiation in chemotherapy

Ashwagandha for Sexual Debility: Ashwagandha has an affinity for the reproductive system in both men and women. It is the main rejuvenative of masculine energy used in Ayurveda, improving the quality of reproductive tissues and increasing sexual potency. It has also been used to increase libido and potency, for it is said to bestow upon its user the vitality and strength of a horse. It is often added in herbal supplements that are reputed to improve sexual desire and function. Ashwagandha has also been helping women boost their desire for sex. Long considered India’s most potent sex-enhancing plant, the country’s women have used Ashwagandha for years to rev up their sex drives

Ashwagandha For Stress: Ashwagandha is considered as one of the best remedies for stress. While most adaptogens primarily work by helping the body to mobilize and maintain the physiological response to stress, Ashwagandha appears to work first and foremost by reducing the stress-related excesses of the alarmed nervous system. It improves the body’s ability to maintain physical effort and helps the body adapt to various types of stress. It has also been reported to enhance mental function and memory. It acts to calm the mind and promote sound, restful sleep.

Ashwagandha as a Anti-Inflammatory Agent: Ashwagandha is an adaptogen that contains several active phytochemicals known as glycowithanolides, which research has shown may relax smooth muscles. As a natural anti-inflammatory agent, ashwagandha may help to reduce the discomfort associated with arthritis. Forty-two patients with osteoarthritis were randomly placed in two groups–one receiving ashwagandha, one a placebo. After three months, pain and disability were markedly reduced in the ashwagandha group.

Ashwagandha for Weak Memory: Ashwagandha is a medhya rasayana, helping to enhance mental ability and performance. It helps support memory and problem-solving skills and enhances the coordinated functioning of all aspects of the brain. It corrects loss of memory arising out of long term stress, illness and overwork. A 2001 study in rodents showed ashwagandha had memory boosting ability.

Ashwagandha is also used for High Blood Pressure, as an Immune-Modulator and an AntiOxidant.

Overall Ashwagandha is a promising herb in many different fields.

Office Equipment: To Help You Save Time, Space and Energy

Filed under: Misc Infos — @ 2:46 am

Office equipment plays a significant role in our day-to-day workplace activities. However, office equipment puts a massive load on a company’s space and electricity requirements. Organisations spend much of their time on growing and managing their businesses. In the process, they often fail to take note of equipment that could help save time, space and energy. A small investment in the form of cost-saving equipment could make a huge difference to your bottom line.

Save Time, Space And Energy With Office Equipment

When selecting any office equipment for your organisation, there are several key elements that have to be considered. Here are the six main office machines and what you need to bear in mind while purchasing them:

  • Printers: The newest energy-efficient printers can print up to 22 pages per minute and carry an Energy Saving Recommended logo. Depending on the printer in question, one can save up to 60 percent of the annual energy costs. Opt for printers with double-sided printing capability, which will cut down not only on energy costs but also paper costs. Combining the printer with a fax machine or a copier will help save on valuable space.

  • Computers: Due to the large number of computers used in offices, this category of office equipment is one of the largest consumers of energy. Look for an Energy Saving Recommended logo and set systems to turn off the monitor and hard drive when not in use. You can also set them to go into standby mode that saves even more energy. These energy saving systems can reduce your energy costs by up to 50 percent. The latest computers are space saving and extremely fast.

  • Fax Machines: Fax machines are usually powered 24 hours a day, and therefore provide immense scope to save energy and, hence, costs. Fax machines that use energy saving technology power down when not in use and power up automatically for receiving faxes.

  • Photocopiers: These office machines traditionally take up the maximum space and use the maximum energy. The new style of photocopiers are very compact and space saving, they are also more energy efficient.

  • Shredders: There are shredders that shred from about 100 pages a day to about 30,000 pages a day. To save on space and electricity, avoid buying a shredder that has substantially more capacity than you need. The level of security you need would also determine the size of shredder you should purchase. Your purchase would also depend on what you need to shred (only paper or also DVDs, CDs, credit cards, etc)

Consultative Business Process Outsourcing (BPO)

Filed under: Software Infos — @ 11:47 pm

Outsourcing = Global Momentum

The global business landscape has changed dramatically in the last couple of years thanks to growth of outsourcing. Outsourcing has gained strength as a management strategy for sustaining global growth as well competitive advantage to overcome the challenges of ever growing business complexities. So whether it’s a Fortune 100 transnationals or even a small enterprise, everyone is looking at outsourcing as a key growth engine thanks to the increased levels of process specialization and sophistication. Domain specialization and not just economies of scale are key to the success of any outsourcing relationship. Outsourcing has been recognized to save companies and not just costs.

Evolving Outsourcing Relationships

Organisations now regard outsourcing as a key initiative for overall growth and not just as mere cost saving exercise. Hence organizations are increasingly seeking best-in-class outsourcing specialists and not just large best of breed
outsourcing service providers. This is especially true in the IT & engineering verticals as organizations even outsource new product development tasks to specialized offshore vendors. Research intensive, customer focused outsourcing relationships now have to include the following to remain competitive:

Innovation Update. Quarterly, bi-annual, or annual innovation reviews (also known as innovation boards) focus typically on state of the market, industry trends and relevant information, technology updates, solution demonstrations, site visits, etc. Leverage other industry peer groups to understand what is happening in your industry, the outsourcing industry, and other sectors.

Benchmarking. Clients should always activate their
benchmarking clauses and focus on best practice as comparators of innovationnot just cost comparisons. Benchmark both functional excellence and outsourced environments.

Stakeholder Satisfaction Surveys. Perform monthly,
quarterly, and annual customer satisfaction surveys. They should be “360 degrees”covering multiple dimensions and all internal and external stakeholders.

Deliver on Partnering Promise. Hold regular collaborative planning sessions. Where people are briefed on the strategic and
business objectives. Service providers need to come up with implantable strategies on how best they can meet their clients’ business challenges. This makes the outsourcing vendors to think and act above simple tactical delivery.

Value sharing framework. A transparent value-from-outsourcing sharing mechanism on a case-by-case basis should be
harnessed to pay for business services delivered. Inclusion of regular mutual rewards for both your organization and that of the service provider boosts people motivation at all levels.

Service Excellence. All SLAs must
be tied to process excellence or customer delight will not happen. Project milestones, “go-live” events, and pilots are tangible means of tracking process maturity & excellence. Other measures include customer satisfaction, productivity, Six Sigma (defects), work elimination, etc.

Outsourcing Management. The internal governance team should have a transformation or innovation owner, sufficient staff & budget to help drive innovation and must hold the provider accountable for innovation. Reassure and demonstrate to the provider that the relationship is long-term; otherwise they will be inclined
to disinvest in innovation and the relationship. Your organization must retain process management expertise at a level at which you can clearly articulate future state requirements, evaluate proposals brought forward by the service
provider, and work with your organization to get the business case for change.

Executive Visibility / Support. Senior executives from the service provider side must have high visibility and access. This includes steering committees, reciprocal headquarter visits, joint speaking engagements,
regularly scheduled calls, quarterly and annual briefings.

Behaviour/Communication/Culture. Be prepared to invest in and encourage business process transformations that are aligned to business goals - rather early in any outsourcing relationship. Transformation requires a partnership mindset, not a transactional orientation. Innovation is often not brought to bear because clients do not ask for it, define what they mean by it, and motivate the provider to deliver it, or put restrictions around it. Clients rarely help the provider to understand what is important to them.

Consultative BPO

Outsourcing has now scaled the maturity milestone globally and hence is increasingly consultative in nature rather than being mere business vendors. Outsourcing relationships now proactively meet business challenges as specialist BPO vendors invest to stay ahead of the learning curve. Outsourcing is often regarded as a change catalyst and hence clients are increasing using outsourcing initiatives in their growth strategies/ employee career planning initiatives.

Joint client-service provider partnering is key to this new consultative approach where both invest in transformations and not just fund reactive process management.

Simple yet Effective Ways to Sharpen Memory in Children

Filed under: Best Tuition Resources — @ 5:42 pm

Did you know that there are three distinct memory stores in the child’s brain? They are the sensory register, short-term memory store, and long-term memory store. This is where experiences are retained, stored, and recalled.

Memory as you know plays a crucial part in learning and intelligence. And in order to enhance memory, you would need to promote aspects like focused attention, associated ideas, and repetition in your kids.

It is Really up to You

Many of us grew up thinking that thinking power and memory were inherited - that is why some people are average while others are geniuses. This is a myth, research proves that you the parent can raise your child’s intelligence and improve memory greatly.

All you need to do is be a caring parent and devote time to the child. Nurturing is what creates a child who is caring, loving, and giving.

First you must never think negative thoughts. Children can feel your inner emotions and unexpressed feelings. A positive internal dialogue communicates to the child and enhances not just thinking but self-confidence.

Introduce breathing exercises as well as daily physical activities like gymnastics, jogging, sports, swimming, and so on. Do them with your child. Deep breathing and physical exercises stimulate a kid’s mental processes as well as overall performance.

Did you know, mental gymnastics can be done by playing games like checkers, chess, scrabble, word jumbles, and cryptograms and so on. These games stimulate the mind and enhance strategy skills.

Make the home environment comfortable and warm. Be sure to converse with the children whenever you can. This develops their language skills right from birth to around 26 months of age and that too at a very rapid rate.

One of the age-old methods to enhance intellectual potential, build vocabulary, enhance memory and attention span is repetitive reading - so read to the kids when they are young and repeat the same story time and again so that the child absorbs every nuance.

The World of Memory Games

The easiest and most interesting way to help children sharpen their memories is to introduce them to different kinds of games.

For example you make up a limerick in which piggy goes to the market to buy his mother cake, next repeat the rhyme and add one more object to the listcake and soap. And, as your child repeats the lines he will need to stretch his memory to remember what all piggy needed to buy.

Another oft played game is to put out a jumble of objects on a table. Next allow the child or group of children to glance at the objects for say two minutes. Cover the objects with a cloth and ask each child to jot down a list of what is on the table. This will test their recall and by asking questions about the objects you could jog their memories. Play the game often and you will find that the kids become whizzes at it.

Technology has introduced great innovations in memory games and children are drawn to the wonderful 3D graphics and compelling tales that absorb their attention completely. These are not just entertaining but are designed with enhancement of brain power and memory as the ultimate goal. For example, Smart Neurons has designed several educational CDs and DVDs that integrate imagery with sound and words keeping the children engrossed by the changing contexts, including music as well as words and sentences that are a part of the child’s vocabulary and appropriate to the age group and developmental stage of the child.

Renal Failure: CoQ10 may Improve Kidney Function

What is Renal Failure?

If you or someone you love suffers from progressive, chronic renal failure (CRF) or end-stage kidney failure, you understand how vital these organs are to human life. (Its most common cause attributed to diabetes.) When an individual reaches end-stage kidney disease, the kidneys are nearly or totally incapable of functioning.

Most persons who encounter renal failure are very familiar with Creatinine (excreted in urine as metabolic wastes) and BUN (blood urea nitrogen - protein metabolism breakdown product in the blood) tests, and comprehend devastating effects that these metabolic results can have on the kidneys, liver, heart and other organs as well. In end-stage renal failure, Creatinine and BUN levels become persistenly high.

When this occurs, the kidneys can no longer concentrate urine, excrete wastes or regulate electrolytes (electrically charged minerals in the blood and other bodily fluids); which in turn causes the body to accumulate fluids and waste products. The severe nature of this disease can cause multiple and severe complications, as well as death; unless strictly treated with long-term dialysis (a procedure that removes metabolic waste products from the body) and until eventual kidney transplantation can be performed.

Promising Research

According to an informative report in the Townsend Letter, a 12-week, double-blind study on CoQ10 was performed on ninety-seven patients with end-stage renal failure. Participants averaged 48 years of age and were indiscrimately given either placebo or 60mg of CoQ10 orally, three (3) times daily. Initially, a little less than half of the participants (45) were using hemodialysis from the onset of the study. These patients were motivated to either reduce or stop dialysis to determine any reduction in creatinine levels and increased urine output.

Study results found that creatinine concentration and BUN levels decreased; additionally, urine production improved from 1,300 to 1,920 ml. Other non-dialysis participants who were treated with CoQ10 also showed significant improvement; while hemodialysis placebo users displayed worsened renal function. Overall, CoQ10 proved to be positively responsive to eighty-one percent of study participants.

Per the Study’s author, (Dr. Singh), CoQ10 is most effective in patients who produced no less than 1,000/ml of urine (with or without the aid of furosemide) daily. Unfortunately, CoQ10 is not as efficient when urine output has already decreased to less than 500/ml per day. (This is more than likely due to irreversible kidney damage.)

While larger, controlled research trials are still necessary, the study recommends renal failure patients take 180 mg of CoQ10 daily; however, it is always in the patient’s best interest to check with his/her healthcare provider for dosages and for any possible drug interactions. In closing, CoQ10 seemingly provides much-needed hope to naturally improve overall kidney function.
